Who are we?

At Rilion Gracie Ireland Donegal Town, we are passionate about sharing authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with anyone eager to learn. Established in 2013, our academy was built on years of dedicated training, strong lineage, and a commitment to making high-quality martial arts accessible to everyone.

Our head instructor, Bryan Gorman, spent almost a decade training under Brian Coyle before travelling to Miami in 2010 to train directly with Rilion Gracie, continuing to return regularly to further develop his knowledge and skills. This connection to the Gracie lineage is something we are incredibly proud of and helps ensure that our students receive authentic, proven Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction.

Whether your goal is to learn practical self-defence, improve your fitness, build confidence, reduce stress, or compete at a high level, our BJJ gym offers a welcoming environment where you can achieve your goals. We provide classes for children, teenagers, and adults, with programmes designed to suit complete beginners through to experienced practitioners.

Head Coach

Bryan Gorman

Bryan is a 2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Brian Coyle, with over 22 years of training experience in BJJ and martial arts. Throughout his journey, he has remained committed to continuous learning, regularly seeking opportunities to develop his skills and deepen his understanding of the art. In 2010, he travelled to Miami, Florida, to train with Master Rilion Gracie and Professor Romulo Reis Pereira, beginning a long-standing connection with the Gracie lineage that continues to influence the instruction offered at the academy today.

As both a competitor and coach, he has competed in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and has trained and competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu across multiple countries. This experience has allowed him to learn from a wide range of world-class instructors and training environments, bringing valuable knowledge and proven techniques back to his students in Donegal.

Assistant Coach

Igor

Igors Dedovs is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Brian Coyle and our Head Coach, with over 12 years of BJJ training experience. As the dedicated coach for our kids and teens BJJ programmes as well as our adults and beginner classes, Igors is passionate about helping young students develop confidence, discipline, respect, and strong self-defence skills in a positive and supportive environment. A highly accomplished competitor, Igors is a multiple-time Irish Champion and a European Masters Champion, bringing a wealth of competitive experience to every class he teaches. His success on the competition mats is matched by his commitment to helping students of all ages improve their technique, fitness, and understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Kids Classes

Our Kids BJJ classes are designed to help children build confidence, discipline, respect, and essential self-defence skills in a fun and supportive environment. Through structured martial arts training, children improve their coordination, balance, fitness, and focus while learning valuable life skills that extend beyond the mats. Suitable for beginners and experienced students alike, our BJJ classes provide a safe and welcoming space where kids can stay active, make friends, and develop both physically and mentally under the guidance of experienced coaches.




Teen Classes

Our Teen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are tailored to help young people develop confidence, resilience, discipline, and effective self-defence skills through structured martial arts training. Whether your goal is to improve fitness, learn self-defence, build confidence, or prepare for competition, our teen BJJ programme provides the coaching and support needed to progress both on and off the mats. Suitable for all experience levels, from complete beginners to aspiring competitors.

Gi Classes

Our Gi BJJ classes focus on developing your skills when fighting and training in gis. Training in the gi allows students to learn grips, control, submissions, and positional strategies that form the foundation of effective BJJ. Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, learn a proven martial art, relieve stress, or compete, our classes provide a welcoming environment for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Train with experienced coaches, challenge yourself, and become part of a supportive BJJ gym community.




No-Gi Classes

Our Adult No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes offer a fast-paced and dynamic approach to grappling. Without the traditional gi, students develop speed, timing, and athleticism while learning techniques that translate well to MMA, submission grappling, and practical self-defence situations. Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, learn effective martial arts skills, or take your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the next level, our No-Gi classes provide expert coaching in a friendly and challenging training environment. Suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Beginners Programme

Our multi-week beginners Programme is the perfect starting point for anyone new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or martial arts. Designed with complete beginners in mind, classes focus on the fundamental techniques, positions, and principles of BJJ in a friendly, supportive, and pressure-free environment. You'll learn practical self-defence skills, improve your fitness, build confidence, and develop a strong foundation before progressing to more advanced training. No previous experience or fitness level is required—just a willingness to learn and have fun while becoming part of a welcoming BJJ gym community.




All Levels Classes

Our All Levels BJJ classes are designed to welcome everyone, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Each session combines fundamental techniques with more advanced concepts, allowing students to learn at their own pace while continuing to develop their skills, and the opportunity to test them against more or less skilled training partners. Whether your goal is self-defence, improved fitness, competition training, or simply learning a highly effective martial art, our classes provide a supportive environment where everyone can progress.
